If they would have an area instead of an exact pointer and some mentioning of the (already existing) landmarks, i think that would be a great comrpomise between the actual RPG fans and casual gamers.Īside of that, if you take the time to install ENB and 4 k textures for tomatoes, baskets etc.

There is a mod that removes them, which makes the game unplayable as the questlog and NPC's don't give you enough info to find the quest target otherwise. The one big issue skyrim has that everyone can probably agree on, is that you are just following exactly located pointers. I would argue it's actually underrated given its impact, personally. The second it became super mainstream it became super overrated in the eyes of a large portion of the community. It's sad to see the knocks it gets nowadays simply because it's an uber-popular title. Then that moment where it opens up and you see White Run for the first time - freaking crazy. I still have vivid memories of trekking through the hills leading to White Run and seeing the wildlife casually strut through the woods and the foilage move around as if there were a slight breeze. We have since been spoiled with games like the Witcher 3 or even GTA5 on some level but back then, no game came close to Skyrim. We kinda take it for granted now but the amount of detail in the environments in Skyrim was mind-blowing back when it first came out. I couldn't believe my Xbox 360 was capable of what I was seeing at the time. I was blown away by the atmosphere and world. Once you get past the little dragon attack intro thingy and you're on your own. It was the first time since booting up Morrowind that I was in complete awe right away. It wasn't until ALL of my damn friends were playing the game that I buckled and picked it up on the way home from work. I remembered they were mostly positive for Oblivion too though and held out. When it finally released, I almost immediately let down by it. I was beyond excited and pumped up for Oblivion. I had played "Open World" type games prior but Morrowind felt different. You create a character, go through a quick intro, and then boom - you're on your own.

I first played it on the OG Xbox and everything about it from the case, manual, and startup all seemed overwhelming and complex at first. I think it was the right game at the right time for me. It's in discussions for the greatest game of all time and it's hard to argue that any one game has had more of an impact on the gaming community in the last decade than Skyrim. If I am taking personal preference out of the equation then it's next to impossible to argue that Skyrim isn't the top title. You should really try Morrowind as well (with the expansions).
